IAFF Local 2856 Benevolence Fund Overview
IAFF Local 2856’s Benevolence Fund has been created in order to address requests for assistance; whether financial, social, physical, or spiritual, from union members, their families, and/or the public at large. Our assistance includes, but not limited to, medical bills, injury/illness that limits/reduces income, medically necessary home upgrades or improvements, etc. The money that funds this account is raised solely by donations and fundraisers.
In 2011, we were able to assist many members of our community and our fire department brothers and sisters. Throughout the year we were able to hand out over $1,795 in financial assistance. In addition, we were able to install security lights for a citizen, repaired a walker for a patient, assist with cab fare for a patient’s family member to get to the hospital to be with the patient, and donated almost $300 in gift baskets for local medical fundraisers.
It is an honor to be able to help the citizens and guests of our community, the one we are sworn to protect. We understand that in these tough times, we need to try to assist our community in every way possible. We feel that our obligation rises beyond the job, and we take this obligation seriously. We look forward to a progressive 2012.
If you have any questions or would like to donate to our benevolence fund, please feel free to contact any of the committee members.
